Briarwood Circle Structure Fire
Elizabethtown Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a single-family residence on Briarwood Circle on Friday, June 4, 2004, at 4:25 p.m. The blaze started in the living room, ascended the stairs to the second floor, and continued into the attic. The fire was first discovered by Elizabethtown City Police officers who responded to a security alarm at the residence and immediately called for the fire department. Though Briarwood Circle is within city limits and hydrants are immediately accessible, the volume of water required by Elizabethtown's Ladder One reduced the water pressure at the hydrant. Mutual aid was therefore requested of Central Hardin Fire Department, which responded with a tanker and manpower, and of Rineyville Fire Department, which also provided a tanker. Firefighters battled the fire for two and a half hours, spraying both water and foam into the attic of the structure to smother the blaze. Radcliff and Valley Creek Fire Departments manned Elizabethtown's Stations One and Two until the fire was under control. Hardin County Ambulance Service was also at the scene. No injuries were reported. Cause of the fire is under investigation. (Click photos to enlarge)
