A Message from Code 3 Images:
Code 3 Images does not publish graphic photographs of injuries and fatalities. As our mission statement indicates, the purpose of our work and our web site is to increase public awareness of the critical services provided by emergency services personnel. We are proud that our images have been used in training workshops by medical facilities, colleges, and fire departments nationwide. It is for training, education, and awareness that we offer the following feature.
Choices Elizabethtown High School 2009
Choices, a simulated motor vehicle collision illustrating the tragic consequences of an individual's choice to drive under the influence of alcohol, was presented at Elizabethtown High School on April 16 2009 during prom week. The scenario was a cooperative effort between Elizabethtown Fire Department, Elizabethtown Police Department, Hardin County Sheriff's Office, Hardin County EMS, Hardin County Coroner's Office, Hardin County 911, Hardin County Fire Chiefs Association, Air Methods, Manakee Funeral Home, and Doug's Towing & Recovery. Students portrayed the patients, the deceased victim, and the drunk driver.
The professionals who participate in Choices respond to the enactment as they would to a real emergency. Their work offers a detailed, realistic portrayal of an emergency response to a motor vehicle collision involving entrapment, injuries, a fatality, and a criminal offense.
Local high schools and emergency services agencies come together to present Choices to senior high school students in order to heighten their awareness of the potential consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol. Young people are urged to avoid consuming alcohol, to designate a driver if they intend to drink, and to never ride with a driver who is inebriated.
