Glendale Volunteer Fire Department and Elizabethtown Rescue responded to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on Tuesday October 1, 2002 on Interstate 65 at the southbound Glendale, Kentucky exit ramp. Glendale Fire Department’s Truck Two was the first unit on the scene with Elizabethtown’s Rescue One arriving minutes later. The driver of the vehicle exited through the windshield; the passenger was trapped in the semi with a back injury. Firefighters used a reciprocating saw to cut through the roof of the truck to create an opening to extricate the patient. The patient was freed after 45 minutes and was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
