Heartland Festival 2010
The annual Heartland Festival parade traveled through downtown Elizabethtown on Saturday morning, August 28, as other events and activities kicked off at Freeman Lake Park. The 2010 Festival theme was "A Salute to Vietnam Veterans." The Grand Marshall of the parade was Adrian Cronauer, a former United States Air Force sergeant and radio personality best-known as the inspiration for the 1987 film "Good Morning, Vietnam." Cronauer was portrayed in the movie by Robin Williams.
Events at Freeman Lake included an Ag Village, featuring displays that illustrated the changes in agriculture from the Vietnam Era to the present. The Ag Village also hosted a petting zoo. Kayak races, a Canoe Tug-of-War, and the Elizabethtown Fire Department Water Ball competition also took place Saturday afternoon.
