MVC on I-65 at the 76mm
Sonora Fire Department and Elizabethtown Fire Rescue responded to a single-vehicle collision near the 76 mile marker of Interstate 65 northbound on the afternoon of October 24, 2010. The driver and the passenger were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene.
Kentucky Bloodhound SAR Members of Kentucky Bloodhound Search and Rescue trained on University Drive on Saturday, October 23, 2010. Handlers gave their dogs a scent article and a point in which a "missing person" was last seen. The dogs were training to follow the trail that person had walked a short time before, and to indicate when they had located their missing person. In the photo above, bloodhound Jeb poses for the camera. In the photos below, handler Toni Goodman works with her bloodhound, Ruby. Field Fire in Sonora
A field and woods fire burned for more than six hours in the area of the intersection of South Dixie Highway and Highway 84 in Sonora. The fire was first reported around 2 p.m. on the afternoon of October 21, 2010. Multiple fire departments from Hardin and LaRue Counties responded to battle the blaze, which consumed 1,000 acres. Peters Excavating brought a bulldozer, and a number of local farmers brought implements to assist in creating fire breaks to help contain the fire. Air Methods flew Sonora Fire Department Chief Frank Donehoo over the area to view the full extent of the fire. The Kentucky Division of Forestry, Hardin County EMS, Hardin County Sheriff's Office, Kentucky State Police, and American Red Cross provided assistance at the scene.
MVC on Western Kentucky Parkway
White Mills Fire Department and Elizabethtown Fire Rescue responded to a motor vehicle collision with entrapment near the 125 mile marker westbound on Western Kentucky Parkway on the morning of October 21, 2010. Firefighters extricated the driver, who was flown to University Hospital in Louisville by Air Methods. Kentucky State Police and the Hardin County Sheriff's Office also worked the scene.
Fatal MVC on I-65 at the 94mm
Elizabethtown Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision near the 94 mile marker on Interstate 65 southbound on the morning of October 20, 2010. The Jeep had left the roadway and overturned against a sign post. The driver was ejected and was deceased when emergency crews arrived. Firefighters extricated the driver from beneath the vehicle. The driver was transported to the Hardin County Coroner's Office by Hardin County EMS. Kentucky State Police investigated the crash.
Patient Transfer
Hardin County EMS transferred a patient from a motor vehicle collision to Air Methods KY6 for air transport to University Hospital in Louisville on the afternoon of October 2 2010. The transfer was made at Bowen Fire Training Center in Elizabethtown.
MVC in Downtown Elizabethtown
Three vehicles were involved in a collision in the intersection of Dixie Avenue and North Mulberry Street on the morning of September 29 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department, Elizabethtown Police Department, and Hardin County EMS worked the scene.
Vehicle Rollover on Rineyville Road
A moving van dropped off the roadway and overturned in the 11000 block of Rineyville Road on September 24 2010. Radcliff Fire Department extricated the driver, who was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. Vine Grove Fire Department and Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene.
MVC on Highway 62
A motorcycle collided with a van at the intersection of West Warfield Street and North Mulberry Street (Highway 62), on September 12 2010. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. Elizabethtown Fire Department and Elizabethtown Police Department assisted at the scene.
Motorcycle Fatality
The rider of a motorcycle lost control and drove off an embankment on Upper Colesburg Road on September 2 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department, Central Hardin Fire Department, Hardin County EMS, Kentucky State Police, and Doug's Towing worked to recover the vehicle and the victim. The Chief Deputy Coroner of the Hardin County Coroner's Office pronounced the driver deceased at the scene.
Garage Fire
A garage located at the intersection of Locust Grove Road and Red Mill Road caught fire on the night of September 1 2010. Valley Creek Fire Department, with mutual aid from Central Hardin Fire Department, extinguished the fire. Hardin County EMS and Hardin County Sheriff's Deputies assisted at the scene.
Structure Fire at Barnes & Noble Booksellers
A coffee pot was left on and overheated in the Starbucks Cafe in the Barnes & Noble bookstore on North Dixie on the night of August 30 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department responded to disable the appliance and ventilate the building. Hardin County EMS also responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.
MVC on Highway 62
Four people were injured when a minivan and a passenger car collided on the 16000 block of Highway 62 on the afternoon of Saturday, August 29 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department extricated one patient, who was flown to University Hospital in Louisville by Air Methods. White Mills Fire Department, Hardin County EMS, and Kentucky State Police worked the scene.
Structure Fire in Vine Grove
A room in a physician's office caught fire in a two-story building on West Main Street in Vine Grove on August 25 2010. Vine Grove Fire Department, with mutual aid from Radcliff and Rineyville Fire Departments, extinguished the fire. Hardin County EMS and Vine Grove Police Department assisted at the scene.
Vehicle Rollover on Highway 62
High speed and alcohol were suspected contributing factors to a single-vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 62, also known as North Mulberry Street, in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 14 2010. The driver failed to navigate a curve on North Main Street, left the roadway and crossed onto Highway 62. The vehicle became airborne in the median and overturned, coming to rest alongside a ditch. The driver fled the scene, abandoning a passenger whose arm was pinned under the roof of the car when he was ejected during the rollover. Elizabethtown Fire Department freed the passenger, who was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. Elizabethtown Police Department worked the scene.
Semi Fire
A semi tractor caught fire on the 31W Bypass at the Western Kentucky Parkway overpass on the night of Friday, August 13 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department extinguished the fire. Elizabethtown Police Department assisted at the scene.
Vehicle Rollover on Western Kentucky Parkway
A passenger car left the roadway and flipped over near the 120 mile marker on Western Kentucky Parkway on Monday, August 9 2010. The driver was wearing a seatbelt, which prevented ejection from the vehicle during the rollover. White Mills Fire Department, Hardin County EMS, and Hardin County Sheriff's Deputies assisted at the scene.
Structure Fire on Glendale Road
A horse barn caught fire and was fully involved when firefighters arrived at the farm on Glendale Road on the night of August 8 2010. Glendale Fire Department, with mutual aid from Central Hardin, Sonora, and Valley Creek Fire Departments, extinguished the fire. Prior to their arrival, the owner had rescued all the horses from the barn. Hardin County EMS and Kentucky State Police also responded to the scene. American Red Cross brought water and food for the firefighters. No injuries were reported.
MVC on North Dixie Hwy
A Tack Bus struck a passenger car at the intersection of North Dixie and Layman Lane on August 5 2010. The driver of the car was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. Elizabethtown Fire Department and Elizabethtown Police Department assisted at the scene.
Single-Vehicle Rollover on Interstate 65
Glendale Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle rollover near the 85 mile marker on Interstate 65 on August 1 2010. One patient was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene.
Semi Rollover on Interstate 65
The driver of a tractor-trailer lost control of the semi during a heavy rainstorm near the 93 mile marker on Interstate 65 on the afternoon of July 27 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department extricated the driver, who was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. Kentucky State Police and Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement assisted at the scene. Doug's Towing recovered the vehicle.
MVC on North Dixie Highway
Two vehicles collided on North Dixie at the stop light in front of Peddler's Mall on July 27 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department extricated one driver, who was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. The driver and passenger of the pickup truck refused treatment. Elizabethtown Police Department assisted at the scene.
Structure Fire on Holly Hill Drive
A house undergoing renovations on Holly Hill Drive caught fire on the night of July 20 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported. Elizabethtown Police Department and Hardin County EMS also responded to the scene.
Motorcycle Wreck
The rider of a motorcycle lost control and slid off the roadway on Thursday afternoon, July 15 2010. The wreck occurred on the Interstate 65 exit ramp 91 onto Western Kentucky Parkway. The patient was transported to University Hospital in Louisville by Air Methods. Elizabethtown Fire Department, Hardin County EMS, Elizabethtown Police Department, and Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene.
MVC on South Dixie Highway
A single-vehicle collision occurred on South Dixie about a mile from Hwy 222 on Sunday, July 4 2010. Glendale and Elizabethtown Fire Departments, Hardin County EMS, and Kentucky State Police worked the scene.
Tractor-Trailer Collision on Interstate 65
The northbound lanes of Interstate 65 were blocked for several hours on the morning of June 10 2010 after two semi tractor-trailers collided near the 101 mile marker. The southbound truck crossed the median and met the northbound UPS truck head-on. Both drivers wore seatbelts at the time of the collision and sustained only minor injuries, for which they were treated at the scene. Central Hardin Fire Department, Hardin County EMS, Kentucky State Police, and Bullitt County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.

MVC on St. John Road
Two people were injured when a passenger car and a pickup truck collided on the 9000 block of St. John Road on the afternoon of May 30 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department extricated the driver of the car, who was then transported to University Hospital in Louisville by Air Methods. The other injured party was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. Kentucky 86 Fire Department and Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene.
Single-Vehicle MVC on Interstate 65
A passenger car flipped onto its roof after leaving the highway and striking a cable barrier near the 95 mile marker on Interstate 65 northbound on the morning of May 21 2010. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle with his arm pinned under the car when emergency responders arrived. Elizabethtown Fire Department extricated the driver, who was transported to University Hospital in Louisville by Air Methods. Hardin County EMS, Hardin County Sheriff's Office, and Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene.
MVC at South Mulberry and the 31W Bypass
One person was injured when an SUV made contact with a semi tractor-trailer and spun off the 31W Bypass ramp at South Mulberry Street on the morning of May 19 2010. The injured driver was extricated by Elizabethtown Fire Department and transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. Elizabethtown Police Department and Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement assisted at the scene.

Two pickup trucks collided in the intersection of Highway 62 and Buffalo Creek on the night of May 11 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department extricated one patient. Three patients were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. Elizabethtown Police Department, Hardin County Sheriff's Office, and Kentucky State Police worked the scene.
Structure Fire on Round Top Road
A garage and a barn on the 1400 block of Round Top Road were fully involved when firefighters arrived on the evening of May 7 2010. Central Hardin Fire Rescue, with mutual aid from Glendale and Valley Creek Fire Departments, extinguished the fire. Hardin County EMS and Kentucky State Police also responded to the scene.
Flooding in Colesburg KY
Almost seven inches of rain fell within 48 hours on May 1 and 2, 2010, resulting in heavy flooding in Colesburg KY. Many families were evacuated from the area. Humans were not the only ones left temporarily homeless by the flooding; we photographed a mole swimming to higher ground on the evening of May 4.
Rear-End MVC
Stop Sticks concluded a police chase on the 31W Bypass at the Woodland Drive overpass on the morning of April 29 2010. The driver of an SUV was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS after his vehicle rear-ended a trailer towed by a dump truck. Elizabethtown Police Department and Hardin County Sheriff's Office worked the scene. Elizabethtown Fire Department also assisted.
Side-Impact Collision
Two vehicles were involved in a side-impact collision at 7 a.m. on April 20 2010 on South Dixie at Lawson Blvd. Elizabethtown Fire Department extricated the injured, who were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. Elizabethtown Police Department and Hardin County Sheriff's Office were also at the scene.
Semi Tractor Trailer Fire
A rear tire
blew
on the tractor of a semi tractor trailer transporting 72 cattle in the early
morning hours of April 20 2010. The tractor caught fire
near the 88 mile marker on Interstate 65 northbound,
resulting in the deaths of approximately eight cattle. Central
Hardin Fire Rescue, Glendale Fire Department, and Valley Creek Fire Department
responded to extinguish the fire. Hardin County Sheriff's Office and
Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene.
Single-Vehicle Collision
The driver of an SUV lost control on wet roads and wrecked as the vehicle exited Western Kentucky Parkway onto Interstate 65 northbound. Hardin County EMS transported at least one patient to Hardin Memorial Hospital, while another was air lifted to University Hospital in Louisville by Air Methods of Kentucky. Elizabethtown Fire Department, Elizabethtown Police Department, and Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene. The wreck occurred on the morning of March 28 2010.
Motorcycle Collision
Two people were injured when two motorcycles collided in the 3700 block of South Dixie Highway on night of March 23 2010. Hardin County EMS transported the patients to Hardin Memorial Hospital for treatment. Central Hardin Fire Rescue and Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene.
Car vs. Tree
A driver was injured after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree head-on in a yard off Sunrise Lane. The collision occurred early on the morning of March 8, 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department, Hardin County EMS, Hardin County Sheriff's Office, and Elizabethtown Police Department worked the scene.
Meth Lab / Structure Fire
Arrests were made after a meth lab ignited and caught a house on fire on Georgetown Road the afternoon of February 25, 2010. Central Hardin Fire Department extinguished the fire. Hardin County EMS and the Hardin County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
Hickory Hill Structure Fire
Central Hardin, Elizabethtown, Radcliff, Rineyville, and Valley Creek Fire Departments responded to a structure fire on Hickory Hill Drive on the afternoon of February 7, 2010. Residents were home at the time of the fire, but all safely evacuated the house. Hardin County EMS, Hardin County Sheriff's Office, and Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene.
MVC on Interstate 65
Three people were injured in a two-vehicle rear-end collision near the 87mm on Interstate 65 on Sunday, February 7, 2010. One patient was trapped in the car and was extricated by firefighters. Air Methods Kentucky flew that patient to University Hospital in Louisville, while Hardin County EMS transported the others to Hardin Memorial Hospital for treatment. Central Hardin, Elizabethtown, and Glendale Fire Departments, Hardin County Sheriff's Office, and Kentucky State Police worked the scene.
Waffle House Structure Fire
Smoke was showing when firefighters arrived at the Waffle House on North Mulberry on Wednesday night, February 3, 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department extinguished the fire. Hardin County EMS and Elizabethtown Police Department assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.
Vehicle Fire
An SUV caught fire near the 8 mm on Highway 313 on January 29, 2010. Central Hardin Fire Department extinguished the fire. Hardin County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.
School Bus Wreck
A Hardin County School bus sideswiped an oncoming school bus before sliding off the icy roadway on Battle Training Road near Wooldridge Ferry Road on Tuesday morning, January 26, 2010. Three people were injured and were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS. Central Hardin Fire Department, Radcliff Fire Department, Hardin County Sheriff's Office, and Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene.
Car vs. Tree
Two people were injured when their vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree off Bardstown Road near Valley View Lane on the afternoon of January 17, 2010. Central Hardin Fire Department, Hardin County EMS, and Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene.
Car vs. Ditch
The driver of a passenger car lost control and spun off Bewley Hollow Road near Ridgestone Drive on the morning of January 14, 2010. Elizabethtown Fire Department, Central Hardin Fire Department, Hardin County EMS, Hardin County Sheriff's Office, and Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.
Car vs. Utility Pole
The driver of a passenger car was injured when the vehicle struck a utility pole on Bardstown Road near Fowler Lane. The collision occurred on the night of January 12, 2010. Central Hardin Fire Department, Hardin County EMS, Hardin County Sheriff's Office, and Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene. Nolin RECC worked to repair utility lines.
