Structure Fire in Vine Grove
The building had stood for a century before flames destroyed the structure on Vine Grove's Main Street on Friday morning, August 24, 2007. Firefighters from Vine Grove, Radcliff, Rineyville, and Elizabethtown Fire Departments battled the blaze for hours in an effort the save the building, which was abandoned but for two upper-level apartments.
The downtown area was closed off, traffic was re-routed, and some businesses sent employees home for the day because of the fire. Other area businesses opened their doors and supplied cold water to the firefighters as temperatures climbed into the upper 90's. The fire was brought under control by mid-afternoon. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Vine Grove Police Department and Hardin County EMS assisted at the scene.
