Structure Fire on Scarlet Oak Circle

A cookout on the rear deck of a home resulted in a structure fire that severely damaged a Scarlet Oak Circle residence on the evening of June 14, 2007.  The homeowner stated that he had turned off his gas grill before going into the house just before 8 p.m.  While he was inside, the grill apparently fell over and the hose from the propane tank disconnected, turning into a flame thrower that ignited an adjacent shed.  Flames from the shed promptly spread to home's attached garage.  A neighbor reportedly called the homeowner's attention to the fire at the rear of the residence.  The homeowner and his daughter got out of the house without injury.  No one else was home at the time of the fire.

The residence was heavily involved when firefighters arrived.  Elizabethtown Fire Department, Elizabethtown Police Department, and Hardin County EMS worked the scene.  Central Hardin and Valley Creek Fire Departments responded to Elizabethtown fire stations to provide coverage for the city.  No injuries were reported.
