Sonora Fire Department responded to a structure fire on South Dixie Highway at 1:16 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004. Glendale, Upton and LaRue County Fire Departments provided mutual aid. The fire was contained to the attic in the rear of the single-family residence. Firefighters worked for more than two hours to extinguish the blaze. All of the residents got out of the home safely before the fire department arrived, and they did not return to the house after the firefighters cleared the scene.
The blaze rekindled during the night. At 3:50 a.m. Sunday, January 11, 2004, Sonora Fire Department was dispatched to the same address and arrived to find the structure fully involved. Upton Fire Department provided mutual aid. Firefighters battled the blaze for more than three hours. Hardin County Ambulance Service was also at the scene. No injuries were reported. The home was a total loss.
